Sacred Songs And Solo Hymns 1, 2 and 3

Sacred Songs And Solo 1 – Praise Him

1) Praise, my soul, the King of heaven ;
To His feet thy tribute bring;
Ransomed, healed, restored, forgiven,
Who like thee His praise shall sing ?
Praise Him! praise Him!
Praise the everlasting King!

2) Praise Him for His grace and favour
To our fathers in distress ;
Praise Him, still the same as ever,
Slow to chide, and swift to bless :
Praise Him! praise Him !
Glorious in His faithfulness !

3) Father- like He tends and spares us,
Well our feeble frame He knows ;
In His hands He gently bears us,
Rescues us from all our foes :
Praise Him ! praise Him !
Widely as His mercy flows.

4) Angels, help us to adore Him,
Ye behold Him face to face !
Sun and moon, bow down before
Him !Dwellers all in time and space,
Praise Him ! praise Him !
Praise with us the God of grace !

Sacred Songs And Solo 2 – A mighty fortress is our God

1) A mighty fortress is our God,
A bulwark never failing :
Our Helper He, amid the flood
Of mortal ills prevailing.
For still our ancient foe
Doth seek to work his woe ;
His craft and power are great,
And armed with cruel hate
On earth is not his equal.

2) Did we in our own strength confide,
Our striving would be losing,
Were not the right Man on our side,
The Man of God’s own choosing.
Dost ask who that may be ?
Christ Jesus, it is He !
Lord Sabaoth is His name,
From age to age the same :
And He must win the battle.

3) And though this world, with devils
Should threaten to undo us:
We will not fear; for God hath willed
His truth to triumph through us.
Let goods and kindred go,
This mortal life also ;
The body they may kill :
God’s truth abideth still,
His Kingdom is for ever.

Sacred Songs And Solo 3 – A safe stronghold our God

1) A safe stronghold our God is still,
A trusty shield and weapon ;
He’ll help us clear from all the ill
That hath us now o’er taken.
The ancient prince of hell
Hath risen with purpose fell ;
Strong mail of craft and power
He weareth in this hour,
On earth is not his fellow.

2) With force of arms we nothing can,
Full soon were we down-ridden ;
But for us fights the proper Man,
Whom God Himself hath bidden.
Ask ye, Who is this same ?
Christ Jesus is His name,
The Lord Sabaoth’s Son ;
He, and no other one,
Shall conquer in the battle.

3) And were this world all devils o’er,
And watching to devour us,
We lay it not to heart so sore ;
Not they can overpower us.
And let the prince of ill
Look grim as e’er he will,
He harms us not a whit :
For why ? His doom is writ ;
A word shall quickly slay him.

4) God’s word, for all their craft and force,
One moment will not linger,
But,spite of hell, shall have its course;
‘Tis written by His finger.
And though they take our life,
Goods, honour, children, wife,
Yet is their profit small ;
These things shall vanish all,
The city of God remaineth.
